Hey everybody, how are you? I am spectacular! Let’s get into the Gospel. It’s Mark again and it continues from last Gospel.

Gospel Mark 6:30-34

The apostles gathered together with Jesus
and reported all they had done and taught.
He said to them,
“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”
People were coming and going in great numbers,
and they had no opportunity even to eat.
So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
People saw them leaving and many came to know about it.
They hastened there on foot from all the towns
and arrived at the place before them.

When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd,
his heart was moved with pity for them,
for they were like sheep without a shepherd;
and he began to teach them many things.

So the apostles come back from their big trip after Jesus sent them off two by two with no money, just a pair of sandals, the tunic, and a walking stick, and they healed and cast out demons. They did great deeds and came back to tell Jesus all about it. Jesus was like, “Boy, guys, you’ve been working hard! You need to rest a little bit, so let’s go to a deserted place.” But SO many people were dying for them and for Jesus! They were lost, just lost! And so when they finally got to their deserted place, because people heard where they were going, they were already there. They couldn’t relax and rest. And Jesus had such pity for them and said, “You know, I’m going to teach you. I’m going to lead you because you guys are so lost and you need it spiritually.”

How do we live the Gospel this week in the 21st century?

We are spiritually bankrupt a lot of the time. I’m not speaking for you, I’m speaking for me. I know for a fact before I found my faith about five years ago, I had no shepherd guiding me. I was a complete mess, but I didn’t even know I was a complete mess! I was one of those lost sheep without a shepherd, and that is exactly what all these people are feeling as well. They needed Jesus. They needed His guidance, His teachings, His love, and so do you! I know the difference between living with a shepherd and living without a shepherd. Living without a shepherd … sucks. I’m sorry, I just have to say it like that. You have no idea until you do find that shepherd in Jesus Christ, how different your life can be. This is again what we need to do this week.

Ask Jesus to shepherd you—just ask Him—have a conversation today. I know this seems to be a theme throughout a lot of these vlogs, but it’s true. People need God. We were made for God in the image and likeness of Him. We are spiritual beings. Prayer helps—a relationship with God helps. Learning how He wants us to live—by His commandments—it is going to save our soul. It may sound crazy if you haven’t found Him yet, but please just ask Him and just open up that dialogue and that conversation.

I can’t wait to see where the journey takes you. So this week, that is your challenge. Ask Him to be your shepherd. See what happens. Maybe He’ll put someone in your way this week. Maybe an opportunity comes up that you never thought in your wildest imagination would present itself to you. Maybe you have a sense of peace knowing that you’re finally reaching out to the Man, to God, and understanding that you can’t live this life alone. You can do nothing without Him.

Share your experience when you do ask him to be your shepherd, I can’t wait to hear about it. In the meantime, as always, have a blessed and inspired week!

Hello Compassionate Culture! I was a little scattered this morning and a bit distracted to say the least. It seemed I had a never ending “to-do” list and I just kept ADDING TO IT all morning long. I was beginning to feel a little anxious.

I tried my best to focus on prayer this morning and did a 50% job of it.

So, I decided to stay after Mass this morning and kneel in front of the Tabernacle (where the real presence of Jesus is – consecrated in every Catholic Church in the world) and asked him, “Please, Lord – shepherd me! I am a lost sheep and I need your voice to live your ways and to do your will. Please prioritize my actions today and to best serve you – not me!”

My shoulders began to slump down from my ears, my spine seemed to relax and my neck was like a rubber band. I felt a bit like an oozy glob of that green slime kids play with…and it was incredible. I even took out my notepad and started to write down what I believed he wanted me to focus on today.

I left feeling a little less lost. I have to do that every day because each day is different. But after I do humble my prideful self and ask for Him to lead me, I always feel so much more taken care of, like a child with a parent.

Stop what you are doing and ask Him to shepherd you right now. Spend 5 minutes humbling yourself to the God who created you – see what happens. Share it, please – my morning shifted from a scattered list of “stuff” to a narrow-focused list of “meaning”….wow! Love you all!
